The Kirchenwirt is situated in a magnificent location right next to the famous Mariatrost Basilica, and has been a culinary institution in the Styrian capital of Graz for over 300 years
. The renowned hotel restaurant was built in the late 17th century as a tavern with lodgings for pilgrims, and has been run since 1919 by three generations of the Pfeifer family.
With our cosy dining rooms and beautiful outdoor dining area shaded by chestnut trees and with views over Graz, here at the Kirchenwirt we’ll welcome you with excellent cooking that reflects the origins of traditional Austrian cuisine

With our separate catering service, we are responsible for catering at the Graz Opera House and are delighted to meet the culinary requirements for your event– from private cooking in your own kitchen, to catering for weddings, christenings, birthdays or corporate functions for up to 1,000 guests.
In 2005 our feast of delicacies was extended to the centre of Graz, when Josef Pfeifer III took over the Gasthaus Stainzerbauer and expanded our business to include another traditional Styrian restaurant.
