As so often in life, it’s the clear, straightforward and traditional approaches that lead to success. We cook according to the season, and are particularly keen to use regional products. The products that the culinary region of Styria has to offer, appear on the table in the appropriate season – for example veal, beef and fish from Eastern Styria, or the finest game from Upper Styria.
Classics of Austrian cuisine are a permanent feature of our menu. They include the hearty Frittatensuppe (pancake soup) as well as Tafelspitz (boiled veal or beef in broth), pan-fried Wiener Schnitzel and Eastern Styrian beef specialities.
And even dishes from the recipe book of the owner’s grandmother, Margarethe Pfeifer, can still be found on the menu to this day: specialities that otherwise would have remained long forgotten. One such delicacy is the tempting Kirchenwirtkrapferl, a combination of whipped cream, sponge cake and hot, home-made chocolate sauce. What’s more, 10% of the proceeds from this dessert go towards the upkeep of the Mariatrost Basilica.

. Depending on the number of guests, we can offer you various rooms which we will arrange and decorate according to your wishes and ideas. And, of course, we’ll also meet your every wish when it comes to food. We can create an individual menu for you and offer advice on suitable wines to accompany the meal.
